As 2025 comes to a close, join Greg Touhill, Director of the CERT Division at the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute, as he returns to reflect on the major cybersecurity development of the past year.

This session will revisit the key themes and predictions shared in February, offering a clear-eyed review of what unfolded as expected, what changed, and what emerged along the way. The focus will be on lessons learned in 2025, providing a foundation for continued conversations in the year ahead.

A short presentation will be followed by an open Q&A.

Meet Your Speaker

Greg Touhill

contribute to long-term changes in networked systems, and develop cutting-edge information and training to improve the practice of cybersecurity.

Greg is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was an operational commander at the squadron, group, and wing levels. After his retirement from the Air Force, Greg was appointed as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he led national programs to protect America’s critical infrastructure. Later, he was appointed by the president to serve as the first Chief Information Security Officer of the U.S. federal government.
