Cloud Summit Series: Bengaluru
In-person Summit November 25, 2022
From the time when it was considered a mere alternative to faster infrastructure provisioning to a time when developers started using it for agility and faster time-to-market to now when it is potentially viewed as the future of information technology, cloud computing has come a long way. The advances in cloud computing are so compelling that they can no longer be ignored by businesses. While it offers increased efficiency, scalability, and security, it is also fast becoming a cost-effective alternative to traditional on-premises infrastructure for businesses of all sizes. With edge computing, AI and IoT taking center stage, cloud computing is inevitable. Cloud, like any technology, also has its share of challenges and concerns. From migration of workloads, data modernization, manageability of multi-cloud environments, to checking the cloud sprawl and security of data, several challenges affect IT organizations as they embark on their cloud transformation journey. To discuss the potential of growth with cloud and to address its challenges, join us at CIO.inc’s India Cloud Summit 2022. The summit will feature key stakeholders discussing topics of strategic importance and sharing ideas for the future. The agenda for this three-city summit, created with the help of industry leaders and practitioners, covers almost all key aspects of cloud computing.
ISMG's agendas provide actionable education and exclusive networking opportunities with your peers and our subject matter expert speakers.

In this age of digitalization, it is imperative for application leaders to find the most effective ways to modernize the legacy workload to cater to the fast-changing dynamics of the market. However, the biggest challenge is knowing the risk-to-reward ratio before acting upon it. Also, it is complex to fix an approach that gives the highest effect and business value.

The Future of Tech Organizations: Is Cloud Taking Center Stage?
Vibhakar Bhushan, Member Governing Board, Cloud Computing Innovation Council of India
Nitin Harne, Senior Director - Platform & Digital Transformation, Tech Mahindra
Navaneethan M, Sr. VP, Head IT & CISO, Groww

Gartner predicts that by 2025, cloud-native platforms will serve as the foundation for 95% of all digital initiatives - up from less than 40% in 2021. In a fast-evolving digital landscape, many enterprises still lack the technologies, experience and talent to meet new requirements for engaging with customers.

To address this pain point and unleash digital productivity, CXOs have to act with a strategic resolve of embracing the cloud-native culture and making it the default future of technology architecture. Cloud computing could be the future of technology organizations because it is efficient, versatile and affordable. However, what are the focus areas so that it doesn’t become overwhelming and result into a sprawl?

The session will cover:

  • Speed, scale and security through cloud
  • Being a data-driven organization with cloud
  • Supporting mobility and hybrid work
  • Building a strong cloud-native organization for growth

Digital Architecture of the Future: Creating the Right Balance Between Cloud-Native and On-Premises
Lohith HC, Global Technology Leader, ABB Energy Industry

While the pace of cloud adoption has been phenomenal, the move to cloud infrastructure is still in its infancy. About 15%-20% of enterprise IT spending has migrated to cloud, contributing to approximately 20%-30% of all workflows. As digital transformation projects become more mainstream, enterprises increasingly shift focus from simple cloud migration to a more nuanced data-first modernization approach.

Data from IDC suggests that on-premises, non-cloud workloads are on the rise, growing from 29% of total workloads in February 2021 to 35% of that number only six months later. The takeaway: Enterprises are now searching for an optimal balance of workload distribution in the cloud and on-premise.

The session will cover:

  • Key factors considered for workload placement
  • Compliance considerations for creating the right balance
  • Business resilience and security as the factor
  • Future of hybrid cloud

Are CXOs Falling for Baits: The Economics of Cloud Computing
Kumar KV, Group CIO, Narayana Health
Saurabh Chandra , Managing Director, Boston Consulting Group

The value potential of cloud may be enormous, but only for companies that understand the economics of cloud well. While moving to cloud seems inevitable, organizations are stuck in the legacy world of on-premises infrastructure. The economic and financial models are grounded in decades of traditional IT practices that are based on “owning” IT instead of “consuming” it.

As a consequence, companies are developing business cases, negotiating contracts and making economic calculations that don’t take into account the different financial approaches and models that are specific to cloud. Not only is this resulting in value derived from the cloud falling short of expectations, but it is also, in some cases, threatening cloud programs, with some businesses even considering reversing course.

The session will cover:

  • Making a business case for cloud
  • Capital-expenditure economics versus operating-expenditure economics
  • Elasticity benefits of cloud versus the on-prem infrastructure
  • Migration of cloud workloads

COVID-19 accelerated cloud adoption trends, which otherwise seem irreversible. With the normalization of remote work, companies are now tasked to support and provide critical services to their off-site workforce. While it gives great deal of flexibility, it also widens the threat surface and enables cyberattackers to exploit systems.

A survey suggests that 27% of organizations have experienced a security incident in their public cloud infrastructure within the last 12 months. Regulators are seeking to tighten the rules around data sovereignty and localization, thus posing challenges for many industries to move to the cloud. While cloud adoption is on the rise, it is not free from multiple challenges. How are CXOs dealing with those?
