Automation at Scale: Managing Machine Identities Across IT and OT Before the 47-Day Certificate Deadline

11:00 - 12:30pm CET | EMEA

Event Overview

As the March 2026 enforcement of 200-day
public TLS certificate lifespans draws near and companies prepare for the eventual shift to 47-day renewals, manufacturing organisations face a pivotal operational challenge. In these complex industrial environments, where traditional IT systems converge with OT and industrial IoT devices proliferate, manual certificate tracking, disconnected governance, and legacy renewal workflows simply won’t keep pace.

The surge of machine identities (from PLCs, SCADA, IIoT sensors, and robotics) magnifies risk. Machine identity gaps,
specifically in certificate lifecycle management, are often the starting point for production-impacting outages or OT intrusions which affect supply-chain continuity. At the same time, evolving EU regulatory frameworks such as the
Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) underscore the urgency of operationalising digital trust.

Key discussion areas include:

  • What the 200-day enforcement and upcoming 47-day TLS shift mean specifically for manufacturing IT, OT, security, and compliance teams
  • How automation of certificate lifecycles — especially for machine identities in OT/IIoT environments — eliminates manual risk and supports continuous
    operations
  •  Establishing unified certificate ownership, policy and visibility across enterprise IT + OT domains
  •  Preparing for “crypto-agility” (and future cryptographic changes) as shorter lifecycles become the norm
  •  Benchmarking readiness: what manufacturing organisations are doing today, what the common pitfalls are — and what you need to prioritise in the next 6–12 months
